Food Network - ID Package

Cinema 4D

This mini set of Food Network ID's explores three separate shows from the channel, and showcases a different aspect from each. The shows include Chopped, Cake Wars, and Guy's Grocery Games. It was a fun challenge to create something that communicated each show effectively in three seconds. I enjoyed modeling the different objects that I incorporated into each scene and it was interesting diving into branding and how important it is to make something feel like it relates to a specific brand/company.

The goal of this project was to create three separate idents for different shows that were aired on the network that we chose. After selecting Food Network as my focus, it was important that I created imagery that would feel apart of their brand, as well as look appealing and realistic.

Cake Wars

After pitching my ideas, the concept with physical 3D objects seemed like the more accurate direction to go. I would then focus on creating more realistic imagery that made viewers feel that it was a part of the show it was for and not just vibrant colors that didn’t really fit the Food Network style.

Moving forward after my first pass, I continued to hone in on the textures, and making sure that the scenes felt like they were apart of the environment that they were in. I removed the obtrusive letters and tried to add more easing to the animation. This pushed the idents into more interesting territory.

After finishing the second pass, I was mostly in the refinement stage of the project. There were still some details that needed to be adjusted, but overall it was headed in a good direction. The main changes for the final pass included making the “Chopped” scene be more realistic by removing the floating knives, and adding more interesting animation to “Guy’s Grocery Games”.

Throughout the scope of this project, I enjoyed diving into the small details in order to capture the brand of the Food Network. I found that each pass was a big improvement, and I feel that overall the idents properly supported the network by showing imagery that related to each individual show.
